Frequently Asked Questions
How long should cold process soap cure?
Cold process soap should cure for 4โ€“6 weeks (28โ€“42 days). This allows water to evaporate, making the bar harder, longer-lasting, and milder on skin. Some recipes benefit from even longer cure times.
Does hot process soap need curing?
Hot process soap is technically safe to use immediately since the lye has been fully saponified during cooking. However, a 1โ€“2 week cure still improves hardness and longevity of the bar.
What about melt and pour soap?
Melt and pour soap doesn't need curing since it's already saponified. It can be used immediately after it cools and hardens (usually 2โ€“4 hours). However, letting it sit for a few days can improve lather.
Are my tracked items saved?
Yes! All tracked items are saved in your browser's localStorage. They persist across sessions. Use "Clear All" to remove everything.
Can I get notified when something is ready?
The tool shows a visual "Ready!" badge and progress bar. Check back periodically or print your tracking list to keep on your workbench.
