Work Hours Calculator — Free Online Weekly Timesheet & Pay Calculator
Calculate total work hours, overtime, and gross pay for Mon–Fri. Enter clock-in/out times, set break durations with presets, and see automatic overtime detection (8h/day or 40h/week). 100% client-side — nothing leaves your browser.
How to Use the Work Hours Calculator
- Enter clock-in and clock-out times for each day of the week using the time pickers.
- Set break duration — use the preset buttons (None, 30m, 45m, 1h) or type a custom value.
- Toggle days off — click the switch on any day to mark it as a day off (excluded from calculation).
- Enter your hourly rate and select your currency to see gross pay calculated automatically.
- Night shift support — if clock-out is earlier than clock-in (e.g. 10 PM to 6 AM), the tool assumes the shift crosses midnight and calculates correctly.
- Overtime detection — hours exceeding the daily threshold (default 8h) are flagged in amber and counted separately.
- Export — click "Copy Summary" for a text overview, or "Download CSV" for a spreadsheet-ready file.
Why Use This Work Hours Calculator
Tracking work hours manually is tedious and error-prone. This calculator gives you instant, accurate totals for each day and the full week — including automatic overtime detection. Whether you're an employee logging hours or a manager verifying timesheets, the instant pay calculation (with configurable OT multiplier) removes the need for spreadsheets.
The night-shift crossing-midnight logic means you don't have to fudge times — just enter them as they are. The CSV export lets you keep records in Excel or Google Sheets, and the copy-to-clipboard summary is perfect for quickSlack messages or emails to payroll.
Frequently Asked Questions
If the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time (e.g., clock in at 22:00, clock out at 06:00), the calculator assumes the shift spans midnight. It adds 24 hours to the end time before subtracting, yielding 8 hours of work instead of a negative result.
Overtime is calculated per-day. Any hours worked beyond the daily threshold (default 8 hours) are counted as overtime. Weekly overtime (over 40 hours) is also detected and highlighted. The OT multiplier (1.5×, 2×, or 1.25×) applies to the gross pay calculation for those hours.
This calculator focuses on a single work week (Mon–Fi). For bi-weekly or monthly pay, multiply the weekly gross pay result by the number of weeks in your pay period. Download the CSV and use it as a building block for longer periods.
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser. No timesheet data is sent to any server. Your hours, rate, and pay calculations stay private on your device.
The CSV includes each day (Mon–Fri) with clock-in, clock-out, break duration, and hours worked, followed by a summary row with totals, overtime hours, and gross pay. It's ready to open in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet application.
